When it comes to civil liberties, America has a far greater advantage than most other countries. However, there are still period’s when it becomes necessary for organizations to act on behalf of a person, or segmented population, to protect those civil rights.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) provides a guardianship for the nation by preserving individual rights and liberties based upon the Unites States Constitution and the laws abiding all citizens. The ACLU works diligently to defend those who have unjustly lost their civil rights as well as those who are in danger of losing their rights.
The mission of the ACLU is first and foremost to defend and preserve the Constitution and the amendments governing the country. The primary purpose and function of the ACLU is to act as an advocacy on behalf of an individual with proceedings determined necessary in order to resolve the infringement of their civil rights.
With a staff of lawyers and volunteers, the ACLU works to keep American citizens free from adversarial actions afflicted by companies, businesses, organizations, and in rare occasions, other citizens.
The laws pertaining to all U.S. citizens are very well understood and researched by the ACLU in order to protect them. The ACLU also uses those same laws to inform the defending party of a citizen’s rights prior to any legal proceedings in order to bridge the gap between party misunderstandings.
